River City Roots Festival

The River City Roots Festival is considered to be Missoula’s signature summer celebration. This two-day festival draws over 15,000 people into the heart of Missoula. Festival events include an art show, a 4-Mile Fun Run, a Family Fun Festival, great food and beer, and fantastic live music. It truly exemplifies everything that is wonderful about Missoula. We can think of no better place to experience what it truly means to be a part of Missoula than the River City Roots Festival.
Music
This year promises to be another great lineup of music. Friday opens with Gipsey Moon, followed by Fruition, Darrell Scott and Missoula’s own the Lil’ Smokies closing for the night. Saturday’s Main Stage Lineup opens with children’s band the Whizpops, followed by Goodtime Travelers, Sole Driven Train, the Jeff Austin Band, and closing act Rodney Crowell.
Art
One of the highlights of the River City Roots Festival is the fine art from around the region. Over 30 artists from around the Pacific Northwest showcase their art here. A variety of artistic mediums will be displayed, including painting, photography, pottery, sculpture, jewelry, textile arts and wood.
Other Festivities
Though the music and art are definite highlights of the River City Roots Festival, there is plenty of fun for the entire family spread throughout the festival. There are a variety of booths and performances for children and adults attending the festival. In addition to these activities, there are a vendors showcasing Missoula’s best local businesses.
