The 2011 Buddy DeFranco Jazz Festival

We at Blue Mountain Bed and Breakfast Missoula look forward to the Buddy DeFranco Jazz Festival each spring, and 2011 is no different. For more than 20 years, this festival has inspired and educated high school and college jazz ensembles. Buddy DeFranco and a variety of professional musicians lead clinics for participating students during the day, and perform for the public at night.
DeFranco has been hailed as “the supreme virtuoso of (the clarinet) and an innovator who defies category and time” by Ted Panken of Downbeat Magazine. He has been playing the clarinet for nearly 80 years – since he was 9 years old – and he is still going strong. We always encourage guests of Blue Mountain Bed and Breakfast Missoula to take advantage of this opportunity to see him perform.
We invite all jazz fans to stay at our Missoula Bed and Breakfast the weekend of April 29, 2011, during the Buddy DeFranco Jazz Festival. Come watch this legend of swing and big band music inspire young musicians. It’s a thrilling experience.
The Buddy DeFranco Jazz Festival takes place April 29 – 30, 2011 at the University Theatre in Missoula. Joining Buddy DeFranco on stage will be Robin Eubanks on trombone and Arturo Sandoval on trumpet, as well as numerous talented high school and college students. Please see GrizTix to purchase tickets.
