There are many excellent day hikes near our Missoula bed and breakfast. We enjoy sharing our favorite hikes with guests of our bed and breakfast Missoula, and hearing about unfamiliar hikes discovered by our guests.
Fall is a great time to hike in this corner of western Montana. The snows haven’t yet started, and while nights can be chilly, most days are fairly warm. Clear skies mean big views of the Big Sky state, so don’t forget your camera.
There are several pleasant hikes by the Butte Cabin Ridge Trail, located in the Sapphire Mountains about 75 minutes southeast of our inn. One is the hike to Stony Lake, a beautiful little lake ringed by the mountains. Another is the hike to the summit of Quigg Peak, more than 8,000 feet above sea level; views from the summit are unparalleled. The nearby Hogback Ridge Trail is also a gem.
Lodging at our bed and breakfast Missoula is a perfect way to balance days spent out in the mountains. For starters, our breakfasts will give you plenty of energy to make it up any trail. After a long day of walking, an hour in a jetted tub will feel just right. In the evening, head to downtown Missoula for dinner or let us cook for you (with advance notice for parties of 4 or more, please). If you are nice and weary after that, you’ll enjoy a relaxing game of billiards, exploring our vast collection of music, or stretching out to watch a DVD from our library. Sounds like a delightful little holiday, doesn’t it?
