The First Ever 4th of July Light Parade in Missoula
There’s a new event for the 2012 Missoula Independence Day Celebrations! This year marks the First Annual 4th of July Lights Parade. This year’s parade theme is “The Spirit of Missoula” and the event will be held in Missoula’s Midtown district. Decorated floats and vehicles, plus other colorful parade participants will show their Missoula spirit!
Unlike most 4th of July parades, which are held in the morning or afternoon, the Light Parade in Missoula starts at sunset (about 9:30 p.m.) at 1600 North Ave. If you arrive early, you can enjoy Midtown’s fun shops and restaurants. You’ll have plenty of time to pick a spot to watch along the route which will travel west on North Avenue, then on to Johnson and circling Southgate Mall for the Fireworks Spectacular.
Missoula 4th of July Fireworks at Southgate Mall
The Southgate Mall at 2901 Brooks Street will be the site of the 2012 Independence Day Fireworks Spectacular. Although the fireworks officially begin at 10:30 p.m., the program opens with live music and the national anthem at 9:00 p.m. Pull up a lawn chair, bring your cooler full of goodies and enjoy the show. The Boy Scouts will also have a couple concession stands with refreshments, plus 3D fireworks glasses to add an extra dimension of excitement!
