Garnet Ghost Town in Winter

Winter is a fun time for guests of our Missoula Bed and Breakfast to visit Garnet Ghost Town. The road to Garnet is closed to wheeled vehicles, so the only way to access the town is to ski, snowshoe, or snowmobile there. We prefer skis or snowshoes, since it seems fitting to enter a ghost town quietly.
The shortest route Garnet Ghost Town in the winter is from the Drummond or Bearmouth exits off I-90. Park your car at the Cave Gulch Road Intersection. Head up Bear Gulch three miles to Garnet or travel four miles up Cave Gulch to the ghost town. Return by the other trail. Be sure to eat a hearty breakfast at our B&B Missoula before embarking on your journey, and remember to be prepared for sudden changes in weather.
