In and around Missoula, there is a growing trend of portable eateries like food trucks and carts. These food unique food vendors are popping up around town at farmers markets, and local events such as Out to Lunch and Downtown ToNight. There is even a Food Truck Tuesday on the corner of Scott Street and Toole Avenue.
While some of the vendors are in a traditional Food truck set up, whereas others have transformed bikes, bbq pits, and carts into their own visions of mobile food. The one-of-a-kind food trucks serve amazing food that is as diverse as the many cultural communities found within Missoula, Montana.
The Big Dipper Restaurant (located at 631 S Higgins Ave in Missoula) also has an ice cream food truck they named “Cone Boy.” They provide locally-made ice cream with a variety of tasty flavors like: vanilla, chocolate, huckleberry, coconut, white mint orea, mocha chip, strawberry, caradmom, El Salvador coffee, bubblegum, green tea, maple walnut, black licorice, Mexican chocolate, vanilla-Reese’s, vanilla bean, and espresso Heath. The truck visits Downtown ToNight, Out To Lunch, and Tuesday Food Pod on Scott and Toole Street.
The Clove Cart Pizza Peddlers provide regular and specialty pizzas made from scratch and baked in an onsite, wood-fired oven. Their simply incredible menu reflects the abundance of produce Montana has to offer. Their oven cooks between 600-700 degrees and is big enough to cook two pizzas a time. Their food truck visits Downtown ToNight, Out To Lunch, and Clark Fork Market.
The Masala Food Cart offers savory Eastern Indian dishes. Fresh local produce and meat from local ranchers are turned into authentic Indian curries, chutneys, and pickles. Food truck stops include Dowtown ToNight and Out To Lunch.
The El Cazador Taco Truck serves authentic, made-to-order Mexican food. Not only do they cater events, but they can be found in Downtown Missoula, Out To Lunch, and Downtown ToNight. They also have a restaurant location at 101 S Higgins Ave in Missoula.
The Beastro Wagon (Burns Street Bistro Catering) offers slow-cooked meats and creative, classic sides that combine quality local ingredients with flavors from around the world. Find them at Draught Works Brewery and Burns Street in Missoula, Montana.
The Wild Weenie Food Truck makes street dogs, pulled-pork sandwiches, and veggie dogs served with a variety of fresh fixings. Food truck found at Front and Higgins, Main and Higgins, and 111 W. Broadway Street in Missoula, Montana.

The Clark Fork Market is located under the Higgins Bridge, in the Riverside Parking Lot, just east of Caras Park in Downtown Missoula. Their hours are Saturdays, 8am until 1pm from the first Saturday in May through the fourth Saturday in October — rain or shine! There is ample FREE parking adjacent to the market at the parking structure on the corner of Front St. and Pattee St. and on the upper and lower levels of the Bank Street Parking Structure (the Millennium Building).

The Missoula Farmers Market is known as “the original farmers market” since patrons have been supporting local farmers and vendors since 1972. The were a finalist in the 2015 Best of Missoula Contest for three categories: “Best Place to Take Out-of-Towners,” “Best Place For People Watching,” and “Best Fresh Produce.”
Market opens with fresh local produce, flowers, baked goods and coffee provided by over 100 local vendors. Located in Circle Square at the north end of Higgins Avenue in Downtown Missoula. They are open 8:30 am to 12:30 pm on Saturdays from mid-May to mid-October as well as 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesdays from July through early September.

They are open from 9 am to 1 pm from the second Saturday in May through the last Saturday of September. They are located on East Pine Street in Downtown Missoula.
Almost all of the vendors are from the Orchard Home area which means the produce was all grown within 1 mile of the market! Now, that’s fresh! They love their customers and love getting to known them personally throughout the season….making the “know your farmer” motto real life for all our customers!
They are located in the parking lot of the Orchard Homes Country Life Club (at 2537 S. 3rd Street West) which is just about 100 yards southwest of Wheat Montana Deli. They are open from 4:30 pm to 7 pm every Thursday from mid-June until October.

Bagels on Broadway is the perfect lunch stop in the downtown Missoula area, plus they offer delivery for downtown Missoula. Fresh, made-to-order sandwiches are made complete with their meal accompanists such as juices, milk, sodas, chips, fruit, cookies, and yogurt parfaits topped with their homemade granola. Bagels on Broadway does offer breakfast, but guests of Blue Mountain Bed and Breakfast will receive our delicious complimentary homemade gourmet breakfast each morning of their time with us.
Bernice’s Bakery in Missoula offers something different for lunch every day and promises to use the best ingredients that can be found. You can count on it being fresh, delicious, and affordable. All of their sandwiches are made on bread baked in their kitchen and include vegetarian choices. A scratch made soup will always be part of the equation as well. Guests can find something tasty for lunch from 11 am to 4 pm, seven days a week. In addition, their bakery offers treats and desserts (including wedding cakes) and they also offer delicious and creative holiday fresh baked goods!
After 13 years, Montana residents Jack and Christy Wich were able to move the Bake Shop out of their house. In June of 2010 the Black Cat Bake Shop opened at 2000 West Broadway in Missoula. A wedding cake should showcase your personality while representing your love and commitment for each other in beautiful edible art! Let their chefs use their creativity and passion to create a wedding cake for you that is the perfect marriage of exquisite taste and elegant design. The Buttercup is an important link to our community as well- they often host shows and receptions featuring local, Missoula artists. It’s always spring at The Buttercup because the name refers to the first wildflower to bloom in our area!
Cupcake Cowboy is a gourmet cupcake company in Missoula that bakes tasty cupcakes from scratch using the best ingredients. This mother-daughter run company takes orders for birthdays, weddings, and special events. They even offer flavorful gluten-free cupcakes. Take a look at their delightful Facebook page. Great Harvest Bread Company serves fresh sandwiches for lunch during 10:30 am to 2:30 pm. They offer catering of sandwiches and salads in large quantities for events. Their whole wheat bread is rich, moist, hearty, great-tasting, and full of vitamins. This locally owned and operated Missoula bakery (by Linda and Dave) knows their Montana wheat farmers by first name. They also know their frequent customers on that basis as well. Located close to Hellgate Highschool, they are always handing out free samples to hungry teens and anyone who comes through their door. Their apple-crunch loaf and holiday specials are one of a kind!
Le Petit Outre, loosely translated as ‘The Little Outrageous’, is a locally owned Missoula bakery offering a wide range of breads and pastries. From their delicious hearth breads to their decadent pastries, people can stop by their retail shop on 129 4th St. West in Missoula, Montana, or find their goods at Missoula’s finest grocers and restaurants. If you’d like to take an inexpensive trip to Europe, Le Petit Outre will take you there!
